Windsong Montessori School in Dallas Texas

CAMPUS LIFE

Academic Work Period

The morning work period is a vital part of the Montessori philosophy. Every morning, our students have a 3 hour un-interrupted time to focus on their studies. Each student learns at an indidualized pace, and receives one on one attention.
This lets them develop their attention spans. In a traditional environment, (even in highschool) children rarely recieve more than about 30 minutes at a time to focus on any subject. Many lessons are simply too complex to be understood in one 30 minute chunk. Our school gives Dallas children the time they need to learn each subject in depth.
Other schools, even many Montessori ones, often interrupt the morning work period for various activities. We think this is a serious mistake, because it ultimately trades academic fundamentals for extra-curriculars. Thanks to our focues on providing academic excellence, Windsong graduates are always ahead of the class.
